Day 184 – Orange Toy Dinosaur

Toy dinosaur

Toy Dinosaur.

Buddy of Day 174.

They probably don’t like being separated, but it’s too late, I’ve gone on vacation and in a mad rush to shoot as many photographs in advance to keep ProjectObso going I left him at the studio, whereas his pal had already been returned home. Hope he’s not lonely.

Status: Classify. I never learned the various types of dinosaurs that well.

Alt-title: Fare Thee Well Untitled Monster No. 184

I direct you towards Ben for bar jokes. And, as usual to Richard and John for inspiring this Alt Title obsession. Read John’s post about titles for the initial impetus.

And anyone who knows how to code html will I hope appreciate the alt title sensibility.

p.s. My first pre-scheduled post. I am literally on the road now, perhaps right now driving through a particular strip of land in Newfoundland where the trees and hills prevent cellular reception. My destination will also have no cell connection. I love this interwebs thing.

Day 172 – Pre Stamped Postcard, Port-Joli, P.Q.

Postcard

Canada Post Office Pre-stamped postcard – Wood Carving, Port-Joli, P.Q.
Postes canadiennees. Carte postale timbrée – Sculpture sur bois, à Saint-Jean-Port-Joli (P.Q.)

A wee tear on the front and crease on upper left hand corner. Condition: not mint. What do you expect from a garage sale?

Back of Postcard

I half fancy writing a note to someone on this.
“Not here, but wish you were there”
No that’s not nice.
“Not here, but wish we could see it together”. Better.

Status: Find out if Canada Post would accept this as currency.

Alt-Title: Untitled Postcard No. 172 for An Untitled Pen Pal.

As per usual, a shout-out thanks to Richard, and to John, for inspiring the Alt-Title Untitled post nonsense, and to Ben for the jokes format.

Day 172 – isn’t a mistake . I am currently away on holidays and have a bunch of images ready to go  and was looking to see if they were in a draft post or not. I saw this in the drafts folder. Not sure why it didn’t publish on the day. I might “re-sequentialize” it later, but for now it will serve a dual purpose – a holding spot until I get Day 183 together.

Day 180 – Recorder Music Book

Recorder Book

Mixed Bag for Record. Arranged by Arthur Nitka.

Lots of popular tunes in here. Which don’t sound particularly good played by themselves on the recorder. I’d like to know more about Arthur Nitka. I see two books by him on eBay et al, but no wikipedia entry. There is an census record for someone who may have been him. But he seems too old. To pursue the trail or not.

Day 178 – Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope.

Been working a bit lately with the Kaleidoscope filter in Final Cut Pro, but nothing beats the real thing.

There is a Kaleidoscope Society! Once again the interwebs offers up another treat.

Wikipedia lists Sir Eoin Cussen as doing the groundwork towards the invention of the kaleidoscope, with it being patented by Sir David Brewster in 1817. Brewster, a child prodigy, hoped to make some dough, but there was a problem with the patent and his dreams went awry.

Day 177 – Remote Control for CD Player

remote control

Remote Control for CD Player.

The CD player itself is forlornly sitting in the hallway, moved out of the corner of the living room. It has been disconnected for at least 6 months, if not way longer. It has the option for playing 5 cds (woohoo!) and thus the fussy remote control.

Remote Control

Status: Donate.

By the time this is posted it *should* already be donated. I say this as a big kafuffle:) broke out over my yellow boots, which although they went to a wonderful home, I did feel some guilt that they didn’t go to the Sally Ann – ie to someone who couldn’t afford to have bought them in the first place. So although there is clearly no one who will be rushing to claim this puppy (or the player) I have to put the donate in the past tense. Aah, the complications of decluttering.

The usual thanks to Richard and John for inspiring this Alt Title experiment. And to Ben for the “jokes” format.
