Day 176 – Florenza Pin Cushion

Pin cushion

Florenza Pin Cushion.

Its current location is crammed inside the sewing box (an old hat box) and it holds bobby pins.

Which means that when I do want to wear bobby pins, I can never find them, because until unearthing this, I had forgotten I put them there.

I’m not much of a sewer (ahem). I do like the concept and almost want to learn how to sew.

Status: Move bobby pins to bathroom where they can be used.

Alt-title: Untitled Pin Cushion No. 176 for An Italian Maid.

The usual thanks to Richard and John for inspiring this Alt Title obsession. And to Ben for the “jokes” format.

Day 175 – Sound Patch Cable

Sound Cable

Sound Patch Cable.

Still has the original packaging paper around it. Not sure how old it is. The label has the feeling of being at least 10 years old. I’m sure it is still usable. But here at the Obso residence it has clearly become clutter. The question is does the sea monster hanker for it or not?

Sound Cable

Sound Cable

Status: Borrowed from Mr. OP. At least I think so. Maybe it slipped in through a garage sale box. Either way recommend selling, unless of course I get a telegram from the sea monster demanding possession.

Alt-title: Untitled Sound Patch No. 175 for Static Noise

Thanks to Ann for originally encouraging the cable drawing series. And, as usual thanks to Richard and John for inspiring this Alt Title obsession. Read John’s post about titles for the initial impetus.

Day 174 – Toy Dinosaur

toy dinosaur

Toy Dinosaur. One of about 5.

If you stick around, no doubt the rest will make an appearance soon:)

As age goes, this little guy is pretty young amongst all the other obso items (obso in this case being clutter – but of course metaphorically speaking he fits the bill). He’s only about 10 years old. Actually, wait he could have been a garage sale item, so who knews. Maybe he is a little rusty. He sits up above the bathroom light in a row with several other “collectibles”.

Status: A bit of a beast to shoot. Re-photograph. And then dust his head.

Kill-ratio: 28:3 / ~9:1

Alt-title: Ode to An Untitled Dinosaur No. 174

I feel there’s a joke here somewhere – “So a dinosaur walks into a bar…” but it’s a sunny day and I must, absolutely must catch some rays before summer disappears.

I direct you towards Ben for bar jokes. And, as usual to Richard and John for inspiring this Alt Title obsession. Read John’s post about titles for the initial impetus.

And anyone who knows how to code html will I hope appreciate the alt title sensibility.

Day 173 – Tala Icing Tool

Icing Tool

Tala Icing Tool. Made in England.

Icing Tool

I love baking. Lately I’m off wheat, which makes the thought of baking not as salacious. Although there are lots of delicious alternatives out there, light and fluffy pastries and cakes don’t leap to mind when I think of gluten free baking. So I’m not chomping at the bit to use this lovely tool, recently unearthed in my search for Obso items.

Icing Tool

There are extra tips inside. This is No. 38. I wonder what shape it makes.

Icing Tool

Status: Take a stab at making wheat free cupcakes and ice with pink frosting. Serve at infamous Mad Men party.

Kill-ratio: 43: 4 / 11:1

Alt-title: Untitled  Tool No. 173 for Untitled Pastry Chef No. 38

As per usual, a shout-out thanks to Richard, and to John, for inspiring the Alt-Title Untitled post delirium, and to Ben for the jokes format.

Day 171 – Rubber Stamp of House

Rubber Stamp

Rubber Stamp of House.

This stamp got left out of the original bunch I shot, which being from Day 11 and not knowing at the time that this project was going to extend beyond Day 30, I didn’t have the foresight to shoot them one by one.

Happily this one was in hiding.

The history of rubber stamps is inextricably linked with the history of dentistry, so this site informs me. Dentists made dentures from vulcanized rubber set in plaster molds. The rest is history.

Stamp

Status: Stamp for wrapping paper.

Kill-ratio: 18:2 / 9:1

Alt-title: Untitled Stamp No. 171 for Suburban House on Untitled St. No 42

As per usual, a shout-out thanks to Richard, and to John, for inspiring the Alt-Title Untitled post nonsense, and to Ben for the jokes format.
