Day 146 – How To Draw, Walter T. Foster Book

How to Draw Book

How To Draw. Book by Walter T. Foster. $1.00. Not more than $1.25 in any foreign country.

Walter T. Foster (which btw he did sign many drawings with his initials, back before that had a reference I assume?)  self-published his first book in 1919. He sold them from his garage. They went on to become a series of over 200 books. Not to shabby for the pre-e-book era.

Everything was a dollar.

How To Draw Book

Status: Owned by Mr. OP. I would lean towards keeping. We have several and they are all lurid and lovely at the same time.

Kill-ratio: 28:4 or 7:1

Nothing Untitled wise is popping to mind. No jokes, no limericks, no alternate titles. Must be Friday.

Day 145 – Book of Mortgage Tables

Book of Mortgage Tables

Comprehensive Mortgage Payment Tables.

The cover is a reliable green. I wonder how deliberate that decision was. Should you feel rich holding the book?
It’s very small, fits in your pocket. Like you need to be carrying around mortgage amortization rates in your pocket.

I got this book second hand from a former boss, a commercial real-estate agent. I think the book is so old he had it 2nd-hand. I deduce this via the penciled price and the fact that the interest ranges go from 7% to 18%. A lot of people would be under the water with a 7% mortgage right now, never mind 18%.

So it’s actually a useful historical document. Good for my next career move.

Book of mortgage tables

At 15.5% on a loan amount of $100,000 you need $1,319.75 per month for a 25 year term.

Book of Mortgage Tables

Status: Undecided. This could be the icebreaker at parties, it fits in a pocket.

Kill-ratio: 28:3 or 9:1

Alternate Title No. 1 : Untitled Book of Death Pledges from 7 to 18%.

Day 144 – Musical Movement, Love You Till Tuesday

Musical Movement A Love Song

Musical Movement. 5th in Series of 5.

Unlabelled. It’s some kind of old fashioned love song.

Musical Movement A Love Song

Status: Identify Song.

Kill-ratio: 18:2 or 9:1

Alternate Title: Untitled Musical Movement No. 144, a Love Song.

Richard over at The Future is Papier Mache is doing a series of posts with titles from David Bowie albums. Seeing as I couldn’t identify the tune on this musical movement, but I know it has an old fashioned love song feel, I was looking around for title inspiration and thought why not give Mr. Bowie a try, and so ending up finding this (new to my ears) old David Bowie song  — Love You Till Tuesday. Not quite as schmaltzy as the little tune on the wind up toy. Borderline though. His very early years.

Day 143 – Unknown Musical Movement

Unknown Musical Movement

Unknown Musical Movement. 4th in Series.

Missing key, so unwindable, therefore unplayable, thus unknown.

Perhaps I should get permission to disassemble and figure out how those dots are mapped to produce the sound, and then figure out the tune. There are worse ways to waste time.

Status: Not mine to decide.

Kill-ratio: 20:3 or ~7:1

Alternate Title: Untitled Musical Movement No 143 for An Unknown Soldier.

Day 143 – Sugar

Sugar Vessel

Sugar Thingee. Sugar Pourer. Sugar Vessel. Something like that.

Sugar Thingee

A friend brought this to a party I had where I made mulled wine. This was her grandmothers. Somehow it’s still in one of my kitchen drawers, unused since that day. My friend (whom I haven’t seen in person in eons, yet I still call a friend) knows I have this precious item.

Sigh.

Status: Pick up the phone dammit, meet mademoiselle for a coffee and return this treasure.

Kill-ratio: A very challenging object to photograph. In fact, I was going to re-shoot again soon,  but today didn’t allow for time to continue the musical movement series, so I had to find a substitute I’d already photographed and this is it.

~110:2 or 55:1

Untitled Something:

Sugar, oh honey honey
You are my Untitled girl
And you’ve got me wanting you.
