Day 108 – Matchine Transformer Cable

Cable Drawing

Matchine Transformer Cable. Not a typo, it’s what’s printed on the cable (which is probably a typo, but one must be true to the printed text). It’s for one of those old school televisions. Possibly even the bunny eared type. I’m not sure exactly what it does though, or why it’s still hanging around. Got lost in the gnarly nest of other miscellaneous cables that may some day prove their usefulness.

Status: All cables are to be claimed by sea monster. She’s getting anxious now, so many promised delights, but none actually offered to her yet.

Kill-ratio: 42:2 or 21:1

Day 107 – Letter Stencil

Stencil Letters Detail

Plastic Letter Stencil Template. Although not, I learned, the actual stencil font.

There are several websites dedicated to stencil art, and Russel  Howze wrote a book about them. This template feels a tad more humble than that, but hey anything could be written with numbers and letters.

Status: Not mine to decide. I might photograph a few more close ups, something about that green has infected my mind.

Kill-ratio: 38:3  or 13:1

Day 106 – Day Timer 2012

Day Timer

Day Timer, 2012. Blank after January 23rd. Used for notes before then.
Number of calendar entries: 0.

These little books are so adorable, I get suckered into buying them every year. Even though I’ve had that Apple thingamabob for ~ four years now.

They end up being used for grocery lists, notes, drawings/quick sketches. The 2010 edition (larger) is currently being used to list the numbers of the photos for this blog when I first import then. I have a list K/D (k= keep, d=delete) which I use to quickly delete a whole bunch before I start deciding which images to use. That’s also how I establish my kill ratio.

But for use as a day-timer, that’s got to be at least 7 years. Sigh.

Day Timer Closed

I found a notice by Kate on Bowen Island who lost her blue daytimer 3 years ago, and it was found and returned. The notice is still online.

Status: Use for daily drawing challenge I am currently participating in.

Kill-ratio: 18:3 / 6:1

( Lazy today, only one set of re-shoots).

Day 105 – Light Bulb

Light Bulb

Frosted Incandescent Light Bulb. Purchased in 2011.

We have this lamp, a vintage one (are you surprised) that uses these types of light bulbs. So I think in 2011, but it may have been earlier, when they announced the upcoming ban on these types of lightbulbs I went out and purchased a few packs, because the lamp can’t take the newfangled types of bulbs.

Here’s why:

Lamp

Bit dusty in there.

Lamp

A thing of beauty when glowing

All the other bulbs in our place have been switched over to those swirly energy efficient bulbs, but this lamp must have its way.

Light bulb

Status: Keep of course. In fact, look for clear ones to photograph in order to see the filament.

Day 103 – Curtain Hooks

Curtain Hooks

Curtain Hooks. Possibly from this century, probably the late 20th.

Wait, perhaps some of you might say, aren’t these “new”. Yes, sorta. But see, when we went to buy new curtains about 3 years ago, we quickly realized that the built-in fixtures in our place (c. 1950s/60s) which have hook holders for these types of hooks are no longer in vogue.

Nope, it’s all rods and poles these days, and things with fancy names –

  • Finials
  • Rings
  • HoldBacks
  • Elbows
  • Wands
  • Swag Holders
  • Sconces
  • Trimmings

as one specialty curtain store lists them.

The humble curtain hook has had its day.

In fact these are not even as basic as some of the others we have, which are sharp and pointy and unpleasant.
We ended up hanging the new curtains with a kind of adapter hook thingamabob. No pole required.

Curtain Hooks

These are only useful for making pretty patterns. Although technically the sheers in one room still use these hooks and if one should break they are functional backups.

Status: Research patterns and see how many can be configured from these hooks.
