Day 203 – Keychain Toy

Key Chain Toy

Key Chain Toy. Made in China. Possibly Popeye?

Key Chain Toy - Popeye?

Found in a drawer with a bunch of keys that are for locks we no longer have. Watch this space for their appearance.

Key Chain Toy

I love his hand gesture.

Alt-title 2: Untitled Amulet No. 203 to Protect the Heart

The usual thanks to Richard and John for inspiring this Alt Title obsession. Read John’s post about titles for the initial impetus.

Day 202 – Halebro Bakelite 3 Receptacle Plug

Halebro Plug

Halebro 3 receptacle plug. Made of bakelite.

I love bakelite. The surface, the texture, the sturdiness.

This plug looks very art-decoish on the sides. Not sure what era it is from.

Kill-ratio: 27:3 / 9:1

All hail bakelite.

The usual thanks to Richard and John for inspiring this Alt Title obsession. And to Ben for the “jokes” format.

Day 201 – Shiny Button

Shiny Button

Shiny button.

This button is a spare for a pair of black tuxedo pants. The spare part has outlasted the pants. It makes you feel good when you buy a piece of clothing and it includes an extra button. A nice detail, touch of class and all that. But in reality, how often are those extras ever used?

Status: Donated.

Kill-ratio: Tricky bugger to photograph. 29:1

Alt-Title: Untitled Shiny Object No. 201 for the Lost and Found

The usual thanks to Richard, John and inspiring this for the untitled/alt-title flights of fancy. And to  Ben for the “jokes” format.

I had this pre-scheduled to post yesterday, but it didn’t do it. hmm. the interwebs is conspiring to keep me offline for a wee bit longer.

Day 200 – Wasp Man Superhero

Waspman

Waspman (?) Superhero. Hopefully one of the good guys. He seems to be smiling so I think so.

Day 200! I pretty much managed to keep this daily thing going while away – pre-scheduling and using two found objects helped. Being away from the interwebs for more than 48hrs at a time was magnificent. I highly recommend it.

Waspman

Status: Borrowed. Lives with the dinosaurs.

Kill-ratio: 18: 2 / 9:1

Alt-title: Untitled Superhero No. 200 Saves the Day

The usual thanks to Richard, John and inspiring this for the untitled/alt-title flights of fancy. And to  Ben for the “jokes” format.

Day 199 – Book Art and Culture

Book Art and Culture

Book – Art and Culture, by the venerable Clement Greenberg. Purchased second hand at the Strand Book store in New York city a few yellow moons ago.

It’s not quite fair to render this as obsolete is it. It’s been about five years since I taught at university (as a sessional) so I can’t say if this book is still taught or not. In fact I couldn’t say it was taught when I was teaching as art history wasn’t my field. I’m sure some of the concepts are resurrected, as so much of that era has been recycled.

I steer you towards Ben for the joke format at the end of the post. And, as usual to Richard and John for inspiring this Alt Title vision.
