Cat Stevens, Foreigner. 1973.
This is a 2nd-hand twice removed object. I don’t think I’ve ever played it, though clearly it’s been played a lot. Or at least the cover is in such a shape as show some wild parties might have taken place in its vicinity.
Wikipedia has usefully informed me that Cat Stevens moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1973, to avoid taxes, and that he recorded this album in Jamaica. Hence the title I gather. He later redeemed his tax soul by donating the money to Unesco.
I also see it wasn’t really a hit album. Apparently he is back recording again – although I haven’t heard anything on the radio, but I did once catch a few minutes of a documentary on him. “Yusuf: The Artist formerly Known as Cat Stevens“, it’s from 2006.
The hole in the corner on the album is because it’s a promo copy by the record company. This I know because of the occupation of the previous (once removed) owner.
Status: Undecided. (It’s this busy thing I mentioned, the capacity for decisions is limited)
Kill-ratio: 18:2 / 9:1
