Wristwatch with Roman numerals. Notice the 4 is IIII, not IV. Theories as to why this is so range from association with Louis the XIV, to showing respect for the Roman God Jupiter (because the latin spelling of his name is IVPPITER ). It’s a nice anomaly, but then again I’ve never truly understood the logic of roman numerals – although I like the look.
Mr. OP loaned this to Obsoland. It was a gift from his father, so even though it’s broken, he is sentimentally attached.

So unusual! It has a look about it like it might show you the secrets of the universe if you rubbed it, or gazed into its “eye”…!
What a lovely watch! There’s something a bit steam-punk about it. Love that first shot!
Thanks Richard. Now that you say so, I see what you mean (re: the steam punk) Cheers
I’d fix it and keep it. Oh. More likely I’d think of fixing it and keep it. 🙂
Yup that’s the crux of the matter isn’t it:)
What a cool looking watch! I don’t believe I’ve ever seen one with the number 4 written like that.
