Seemed somehow fitting for labour day – an ostensibly labour saving device.
Joseph M. Margulis patented this device in 1959. I can’t find much information about him.

As always, a nod to Richard, and John, for inspiring the Alt-TitleUntitled post nonsense, and to Ben for the jokes format. I hope there’s someone out there who knows html and appreciates the extra element of the “joke” (no pun intended)
Bell Laboratories demonstrated the first transistor on December 23, 1947. Wikipedia tells me there are many other claimants to the prize of being the first to produce a transistor radio. Bell demoed a prototype in 1948 and the Regency TR-1 was introduced in 1954 by I.D.E.A.
Mr. OP got this at a garage sale and mainly used it for trips to the beach. Which has a classic feel to it.
I have subsequently bought him a new fangled solar powered, and also hand crankable powered tiny radio which is more in use now. But this stills hangs around.
I find these dots slightly hypnotic.
Status: Borrowed. There is something charming about this radio, so sturdy, so I won’t push for it to be shoved out the door.

Van Morrison’s Brown Eyed Girl, in case the video is blocked for those outside N.A.
As per usual, a shout-out thanks to Richard, and to John, for inspiring the Alt-Title Untitled post nonsense, and to Ben for the jokes format. I hope there’s someone out there who knows html and appreciates the extra element of the “joke” (no pun intended)
This has a nifty feature – where there is a wheel in the middle that rolls the business cards out. That was pretty much the reason I bought this I think. One of those point of purchase sales.
One of my first posts was about my obsolete business cards. This holder can join the ranks of the quaint, unused and forgotten.

Bit of Transparent Tubing. Do not use in an icemaker.
This is one of those bits of debris leftover from an old art project. That got finished without this bit of tubing. Yet how difficult it is to throw away when you know it belonged to an idea.

Just a guess. Maybe it’s longer than that. Pretty sure it came from a garage sale.
This item is unbearably sweet. It’s uselessness /clutter / obsolete status is only that it is too big for the average egg. Maybe it was made when eggs were bigger.
Plus, the era of sitting down with a boiled egg seems like a ritual from Agatha Christie’s Poirot days. Although I confess, I just had a boiled egg for breakfast today. In a much more practical cup.
Status: Now that it has been found, put on display. Too cute to be shoved in the back of a cupboard.
