Day 234 – Recorder Pen

Recorder Pen

A Recording Pen.

This was a freebie incentive type gift that Mr. OP got somewhere. I know this because of the faded branding on the other side. It is broken. The handle is missing. But it probably works, if one wanted to invest in the 4 camera style batteries it requires.

There is no way to download the audio. It’s just record and play, although there are two channels.

Alt-title: Untitled Object No. 234 For Capturing Lost Time

As usual Untitled Alt Titles were originally inspired by John’s blog and Richard’s posts at The Future is Papier Mache. “Joke” Alt-title format inspired by Ben‘s joke format at the end of his posts.

Day 233 – Coasters

Coasters

Woven Straw Coasters. Tropical Theme.

These were a gift. They qualify as one of those  items that hang around mainly due to the  gift guilt / sentimental clutter factor. And yet in photographing them, their kitschy beauty shines through.

They are definitely not functional. They puff up in the middle and  if you place a glass on them, it wobbles precariously. You might spill that rum punch if you’re not careful. Perhaps that is their hidden intention of design —  to measure your state of sobriety.

Coasters

Status: Wait till next summer and have a party on the beach with punch. Spiked and non-spiked.

Kill-ratio: 18: 2/ 9:1

Alt-title: Untitled Object No. 233 For Balancing Out Regrets.

Speaking of guilt, I feel guilty I haven’t yet posted this Alt Title Post, my thank you for a recent blog award, and my OT karmic updates. Hey, like everyone else, I’m busy:) Until then the usual thanks go out to the usual suspects:  Notes to the Milkman   and  The Future is Papier Mache  regarding this  Untitled tomfoolery,  Alt-title”Jokes” as closing for a post  inspired by Ben‘s joke format at the end of his posts.

Day 232 – Business Card Holder

Business Card Holder

Business Card Holder.

3rd of unknown quantity of business card cases that are (were) still hanging around. One has already met its recycled fate. This one belongs to Mr. OP – he probably doesn’t know it is still in existence. I open a lot of  boxes in search of Obso items.

This one has a bit more class. It really says “I mean business…I might be a time traveller from the last century.”

Business Card Holder

Status:  Start using business cards From Day 6 (!) To write pithy remarks and use to hold. Hand out at cocktail parties. Make sure to wear vintage earrings. Smoking if forbidden however.

Day 231 – Cable for TV

Cable for TV

Salmon Pink Cable Cord for Analog Television.

I’m sure there’s a better technical description, but  the colour  tells me everything about this object. It’s a companion of avocado green, harvest gold and its ilk. Although probably this cable is older than the seventies. And I don’t know what name they actually gave this insipid pink.

Day 114 makes mention of the impending  demise of analog television in Canada. And in fact it happened a bit earlier, on August 2nd. So long bunny ears.

Day 230 – Nouveau Petit Larousse Illustré

Larousse

Nouveau Petit Larousse Illustré. 1928. With 6,200 drawings (gravures/engravings).

Seems to be a first edition. Previously owned by a P. Bennett, Hillside.
A garage sale find.

Larousse Illustre

Larousse Illustre Pink Page

When I saw the pink pages, my heart leapt out and started to see this book less as a silverfish magnet that I have been pestering Mr. OP to let go of (as soon I had photographed it of course) and more as a delightful object.

Larousse Illustre Cover

Status: Use cover insert pattern to create wallpaper.

Kill-ratio: 109:4 / ~27:1

Three photo shoots— the most challenging object to date. That macro lens hasn’t been purchased yet.
