Day 249 – Old Camera Bag

lowepro camera bag

Lowepro Camera Bag. For the 5.1 MB Nikon Coolpix P2.

This bag is quite well designed. Not only did it fit the camera quite snugly, but it has two outer pockets, one with its own zipper. It also features a belt loop in the back. Now that the camera it held is done and dusted, its purpose must be reinvented — by someone else.

Status: Donated.

Kill-ratio: 17:1

Alt-title: Untitled Object No. 249 For Keeping Secrets Zipped Up.

The customary shout out to Richard, and  John, for inspiring the Alt-Title Untitled post nonsense, and to Ben for the jokes format.

Day 248 – Nokia Charger

Nokia Charger

Nokia Charger

Charger for Old Nokia Phone (Day 136) . c.2007

The phone has already been dismantled and eaten by the sea monster. The charger will no doubt befall the same fate.

Nokia Charger

This one made me think of a Dalek.

Status: Yes, feed to sea monster. She needs a little perking up, suffering from my neglect.

Kill-ratio: 18:2 / 9:1

Alt-title: Untitled Object No. 248 For Charging Up Spare Parts.

The customary shout out to Richard, and  John, for inspiring the Alt-Title Untitled post tomfoolery, and to Ben for the jokes format.

Day 81 – Nokia Earbuds contains vital research (reduced to one line) on Nokia in case such things are of interest.

Added a new category today: Technology. Adds an item to my to-do-list> Go back and re-categorize old Objects.

Whenever talking about anything power related – a big nod of appreciation  to Nikola Tesla is in order. You can read the Wikipedia summary or enjoy the  brilliant comic tribute to Tesla by the Oatmeal.

Day 247 – Le Répertoire de La Cuisine / Cookery Repertory 17th Ed

Book Cookery Repertoire

Le Répertoire de La Cuisine / Cookery Repertory 17th Edition. 1982 Louis Saulnier. Translated. Garage sale treasure.

Just like encyclopaedias, these types of books have been replaced by their digital companions. What the digital version lacks is the chance opening of the page, to fall upon a new term to delight, disgust or amuse. Amuse-bouche – a bite sized hors d’oeuvre.  I like that they translate Entrées d’Abats to Entrées of Abats, as then it becomes more digestible I suppose. Go0gle translates it as giblets. I also see offal and the animal parts no one wants to know about as a definition.

It’s also harder to be a snob with a digital version. No one can witness your literary skills. I learned a new word today from this book : farinaceous [

  1. Made from, or rich in, starch or flour.
  2. Having a floury texture; grainy.

Seeming as I’m wheat free these days, I don’t think I’ll have much use for it any time soon.

Status: A 1960 edition of this book sells for over $250! I wonder if this is worth a few bucks? If so, convince Mr. OP to sell.

There is an address on the price label. Thanks to g)o000000glitis, I can feed my obsessive streak and find the exact address. It is a locksmith’s. Perhaps it was a quaint pharmacy, with the look and feel of the optician’s next store. The shop was called “Hope-Smith Chemists” when a box of razor blades cost 25p. I wonder how much that translates to today?

Status: Borrowed from Mr. OP on condition I absolutely did not open one of the little envelopes. Precious as they are, I was true to my word, and the crumbling box has been returned safely to its place on the shelf.

Kill-ratio: 38:3 / ~13:1

Alt title: Untitled Object No. 246 For Storing Sharp Visions.

The customary shout out to Richard, and  John, for inspiring the Alt-Title Untitled post folly, and to Ben for the jokes format.

Day 245 – Kentucky Cookbook

The pictures speak for themselves as to the vintage of this book . Purchased at a garage sale for the cover , the binding and the illustrations.

Nary a recipe has been tried although the banana cream pie on page  does beg to be taken for a test drive . How to adapt the crust to wheat free is a challenge methinks .

What’s not to love about this cover?

Status: Never noticed how  gritty and dirty the cover was until photographing, so clean the white edge. Cook at least one recipe then send back to the purgatory of garage sales.
