Day 289 – Cameo Pendant

cameo pendant

Cameo pendant. No chain.

I used to have a real gold chain I wore with this, that broke and I sold it in a garage sale if you can believe it. Gold hadn’t gone skyrocket then, but I suppose I should have had it melted  down. On the other hand, its tangled, broken status was depressing. So, no regrets. Okay, one wee regret, but overall good cheer.

Status: Find appropriate chain and wear.

p.s For some time now, I’ve been meaning to write another OT Karma update post (Part I, Part II) – including thanking a re-retero for an award, and updates on the decluttering. Each week, the weekend rolls around, and I plan to do this. It being Sunday evening, another weekend has zoomed past without getting that task done.

I am inspired by Richard’s energy – he has assembled a gallery of street portrait photographs , which I know took some time to get together. Check it out.

Day 288 – Wristwatch

Wristwatch

Celebrity Wristwatch. Analog and cracked.

This is the third watch to appear here. Day 250 – A Longreene Electra Ladies’ Watch and Day 243 – Roamer Mustang Watch were the first two.

Apparently, even if time travel were possible, (which it might be in a parallel universe), “if something happened, it happened” – so there would be no way to go back and undo the cracking of this glass. I learned this sad fact courtesy of physicist Sean Carrol – “Rules for Time Travelers”

Day 287 – Salt and Pepper Shakers

Salt and Pepper Shaker

Vintage salt and pepper shakers. The salt is missing its top.

I tagged this amber, not because this is amber, but due to the colour. I don’t know what the material is. It has a nice feel, is very hard, is not bakelite.

They are approximately 1 inch tall. Super sweet little objects, they sit at the back of the buffet gathering dust.
Mr. OP says he thinks they would be valuable with the missing plug.

Some of my family, including yours truly, have a wee superstition about spilling salt. If you do, you’re supposed to shake it over your left shoulder to ward off bad luck.

I’ve read on the interwebs that it might be your right shoulder. Egads. All those repetitive shakes for nought.

Status: Find out if missing plug is attainable.
Perform ritual of shaking salt over left shoulder using this shaker, repeat at least 100 times. Videotape.

Day 286 – Dongle Adapter

Dongle

Dongle Display Port Adapter to VGA for Mac. I think this is the Micro DVI to VGA Dongle. For connecting to an external display.

While it looks quite similar to the one I have that works with my newer (but obsolete at 4 years old) Macbook Pro, it’s for another macbook I had once. It’s quite frustrating that Apple deliberately makes these adapters non-portable to the next machine. Planned obsolescence, or forced obsolescence.

Day 285 – Bits

Bits

As in bits and baubles, minus the baubles. Just bits of stuff.

I’m like a crow when it comes to bits of stuff that people offer up for donation. Sure I blithely reply, when asked if I’d like a pile of junk.

Almost one year later these two folding bags of bits and pieces which belong to some unknown object remain unused. Not even the sea monster has eaten them.

Status: Sigh

Kill-ratio: 13:2
What I want to do is open the bags – they are labelled with letters, so I could start with the letter  “M” say (for mystery) , and then re-photograph them. Which could be a joyful or joyless task, it all depends.
