Screw on Earrings.
I learned from Georgian Jewelry that “Screw-back earrings invented in the very late 19th century, were now used almost exclusively as pierced ears were considered taboo.” They state their popularity as being the Art Deco period. I’m also now conscious I don’t know how to spell jewellery. There are variations, the usual American vs British and there is also a Canadian take.
I am tagging both jewelry and jewellery. I think I prefer the latter.
I believe these were another flea market find by my mother, the queen of garage sales. I find screwing them on satisfying but challenging.
Haven’t worn them in at least 7 years. They are dusted off for Obsoness.
Days 119 and 131 also featured vintage earrings, but clip-ons, not screw-ons.
Status: Despite their obvious wear and tear they still have a little satisfying bling. Need to find a cocktail dress to match and go out one evening sporting them.

Untitled / Alt-Titles:
Day 119 also had an actual attempt at an Untitled Joke, as opposed to a passing soupcon of humour presented these last few weeks.
I will soon do a post about this Alt-Title stuff. Until then, the usual nod of appreciation to Richard, and John, for inspiring the Alt-Title Untitled post delirium, and to Ben for the jokes format. I hope there’s someone out there who knows html and appreciates the extra element of the “joke” (no pun intended)
i like ’em! great photo.
Thanks Edwina. BTW – I haven’t forgotten about the award, just have to set time aside for the OT special posts update:)
Lovely sparkly pictures! I remember having some screw on earrings of my mother’s at one time. I wonder what became of them. They are tricky to put on but okay to wear which makes them the exact opposite of clip-ons for me.
Yes that is true. I find I can screw them on too tight but once you get the adjustment right they stay on.
